These folks are easily $25k into each of these rides after luggage, trailer, gear, etc. Just get miatas and be a little more comfortable.
Its not like, on three wheels, you’re really getting the motorcycle experience anyways.
Yes, that's four couples on spyders, with luggage, trailers, and all weather gear.

I’m guessing that’s all rented. Point still stands tho as it’s not like you can’t rent a Miata “or similar”

You don’t get it do ya? They wan’t all the “ freedom” of motorcycles without the disadvantages like balancing and no storage space. If they buy a Miata theyll become one of them “ cagers”
But then again, it’s their money they can enjoy it however they can becuase reasons.

I wouldn’t ride one if you paid me, but that’s just a personal bias of mine. Those things are pointless, impractical and weird, so right there’s three* solid thumbs-up from the trad Jalponik/Oppodictic point-of-view. Plus, unlike, say, Ferraris or Porsches (fine, fine cars, don’t get me wrong), they avoid the odium of being ostentatiously costly and thus appealing to dorks who don’t give a damn about cars vehicles but who slavishly admire wealth. So I’m OK with those ridiculous bikes.

you can’t lean a miata.
Why knock them? they’re probably having heaps of fun.

I agree it's their money to spend, thankfully my advice is free.

Right, you can lean neither a Spyder nor a Miata, but when it's 45 and starting to rain, you can put the top up on the Miata.

I hadn’t considered the rental possibility. I hope it is for their sake.

Mostly I just think/hope no one actually buys them, but renting them is a cheap and easy way to some one inexperienced and noncommittal to dip a toe into the motorcycle world.

Sure you can, just gotta try harder

Another aternate theory: maybe it’s some kind of manufacturer sponsored press road test/trip?
Did any of them look like they had “ zoomer media” credentials?

but being in the weather is part of the appeal. Have you ridden a can- am yet?

Also an interesting theory. I didn't see any credentials, but they had full body all weather gear on, so it would be hidden.

Sat on but not ridden. They are pretty huge.

take one for a ride some time, they’re not as bad as you’d think. Cross country touring is probably the best thing they do.
